Howdy, all- the 3 Amigos ride again with our seventh (or is it eighth?- We don’t know- we have so much fun with these that we’ve lost count) episode of our podcast. Dom, Reed and myself are especially pleased with this latest effort and hope you are as well…
Today’s offering- the final one of 2016- features 4th Amigo and Bruins goaltending prospect of note Zane McIntyre. For those of you who might be living under a rock, McIntyre is the top AHL goalie, currently sporting a 9-0-0 record with 1.35 GAA and .953 save percentage in leading the P-Bruins to an excellent start under first year head coach Kevin Dean.
Zane joins us from Wilkes-Barre on game day, where he and his mates will take on the AHL Penguins, coached by former Bruin and Rhode Islander Clark Donatelli. McIntyre covers a tremendous amount of ground in the some 23+ minutes he spends with us, including some heartfelt background on his family story and one of his biggest influences and inspirations- Susan “Grandma Susie” McIntyre. We’ll let Zane do the talking, but if you do nothing else, stick around for his entire segment- it will be well worth it.
We also spend another 50+ minutes talking about the 2017 WJC going on in Toronto and Montreal. Canada and USA are undefeated leading to their New Year’s Eve showdown…ah- there’s nothing like that traditional Clash of the Titans to close out the round robin portion leading into the medal round. We break down the Bruins prospects at the WJC, but disclaimer up front- we don’t spend a lot of time on the draft eligibles in the tourney. Sorry about that- we probably would’ve run and extra hour on guys like Nico Hischier, Eeli Tolvanen and some of the others there. We’ll try to shed some light on them at a later date, though not having Swedish defender Timothy Liljegren (illness) in the tourney this year is a major buzzkill- he was excellent at the World U18s in Grand Forks last spring.
So, with that in mind- here’s the podcast. Enjoy and enjoy ringing in the New Year!
We’re now on Soundcloud, too!
